PORTFOLIO
Cats

2003, analogue A cat steps into the composition of an antique shop’s window.

2013, analogue A self-portrait with one of my findings at the flea market, a mummified cat, dead but well-preserved: the photographer’s goal is also to preserve fleeting moments as much as possible.

1990, analogue A half hidden cat lies in the window next to an easel stand.

2015, digital A colourful cemetery cat lying on a war monument.

2014, digital Cat colonies live in most cemeteries. They are sterilised by city services, fed and taken care of by “cat women”. They are an example of rest and freedom, which I meant to express here.

1991, analogue Twice a year, the sun shines low enough under my window that the shadow of my magnifiers is projected on the wall, or, when one of our cats kindly wants to wash herself there exactly in that moment…

2008, analogue My cousin’s cat runs away and is absorbed by the spots of light and shadow.

2006, analogue From the cycle of Cats & C°. Hugo is a graphic artist, a very calm and modest man, and so is his cat, the fattest in the series.

2006, analogue From the cycle of Cats & C°. Our black cat in the arm, the black sweater and dark background let the cat’s face and eyes stand out, my eyes – the most important sense organ for the photographer – are obscured by sunglasses; the cat´s eyes can see always more than even the best photographer, compared to. Saint-Exupéry: “One only sees in focus with one’s heart, the most essential is invisible to the eyes.”
